Soda Blasting Equipment – A Synopsis

The use of soda blasting equipment with soda / sand blasting media is well known for decades now. Soda is one of the oldest substances to be used as a household abrasive. It’s a fore-runner in the soft abrasive industry due to its unique characteristic of being a soft abrasive that removes the unwanted stains without damaging the base surface.

One other way to use the unique qualities of soda blasting equipment is its “wet” application. This is a piece of soda blasting equipment that anyone can afford, and most will function with nearly any standard unit such as Honda pressure washer. The water, in this case, is able to help in the cleaning by getting into places the dry abrasive is not capable of penetrating. Moreover, there is no dust with this technique, which can be a big problem in the dry application.

But one must be well versed in the procedure used in using the soda blasting equipment. Firstly, protective goggles and face and hand protections must be worn. Then connect and open the water supply line before starting the pressure washer followed by triggering the gun to relieve the air in the equipment. In the end, start the pressure washer and the pressure washer trigger gun to activate the spray. However, before spraying on the actual surface, it is recommended that one must test by spraying on a sample material sheet so that the distance from which to spray at the surface without damaging it is accurately known. As a precaution, always point the nozzle downward when not spraying as this prevents water from entering the sand supply. If water does get into the sand supply hose, one should remove the probe from the sand, hold the gun trigger open, and let the hose air dry. Always be sure the sand hose is dry before using.

The soda blasting industry is growing each year with new techniques to blast being invented and new substrates being formed for better blasting results, one can surely say that this industry is bound to see success in the future.
