A standard cartridge filter or cloth filter is fine for most general pick up applications. If you are picking up fine dust like cold ashes or drywall dust, you will need a fine dust or HEPA cartridge filter. For some models collection bag can be used in combination with the cartridge filter to capture finer particles of debris.
